Music and bonanza for charity

Posted on March 4, 2010 by Staff

Partners in Health and Doctors without Borders will be the beneficiaries of a performance event being co-sponsored by Chapel Hill and East Chapel Hill high schools. The event will be held Sunday, March 7 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Carrboro Century Center and kicks off with a welcome and performance by Chapel Hill poetry and spoken-word group Sacrificial Poets. They will be followed by Lucky 13, a CHHS women’s a capella group. PATO, a band from ECHHS, will be next on the schedule. They will be followed by a battle of the guitars that will pit musicians from the two schools against one another. The first half of the show will conclude with a performance by Bipolar Express, a CHHS band.

After a brief intermission, the program will resume with another appearance by the Sacrificial Poets. BoardStiff, an ECHHS band, will be next. They will be followed by the Alley Cats, ECHHS’ women’s a capella group. Ukulele Orchestra, a CHHS band, is next on the program. The last musical group of the afternoon will be the Beau Brummels, ECHHS’ men’s a capella group. The Sacrificial Poets will wrap up the day’s schedule.

A $5 donation is recommended but larger donations are appreciated.
