Carrboro High School held its second annual Unity Dinner on Thursday, Feb. 25. The dinner was the school’s culminating event for the observation of Black History Month. The CHS Jazz Band, under the direction of Frank Jones, provided entertainment during the meal. After dinner, a program was held in the school’s gym featuring the CHS step team and musical performances by students.
Prior to the dinner, the school sponsored an Advocacy Walk, intended to highlight safety concerns of students who walk to CHS. The group met at Frank Porter Graham Elementary and walked to Carrboro High. Along the way, group members noted roads without sidewalks, bus stops in awkward locations, streets without crosswalks and muddy paths.
