Evie Kathryn Judge, 7-year-old daughter of Adam and Emily Thomas Judge of Pittsboro, went from being an earthly angel to a heavenly angel on Sunday night, Feb. 28, after waging a courageous fight against brain tumors.
Evie was born in UNC Hospitals on Jan. 19, 2003 and had bravely and fearlessly fought cancer since her first brain tumor at 19 months of age, another at age 6, and her most recent one just over four days ago. She lived her entire life in Chatham County. Evie enjoyed learning and loved school as a first-grader at Pittsboro Elementary. Although her time here was brief, her zest for life impacted those around her and in her community tremendously. She loved playing outside with her friends and sidewalk chalk with her “Poppy.†Evie liked to draw and color, watching Spongebob, loved going to the beach, and always enjoyed going out to eat at Virlie’s on Friday night.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, Adam and Emily, are Evie’s grandparents, Rusty and Sharon Thomas and Kay Judge all of Pittsboro; great-grandparents, Marie Mitchell and Gladys Thomas of Pittsboro; aunts and uncles, Kady and Philip Nearing of Denver, Colo. and Aimee and Matt Allred of Summerfield, Fla.; and cousins, Jacob and Luke Nearing, Lindsey and Thomas Wheeler and Jake Allred. Preceding Evie in death were her great-grandfathers, Bob Mitchell and Julian Thomas.
Evie’s life was celebrated March 4 at Emmaus Baptist Church.
