Culbreth student to compete in geography bee

Aidan Marshall, an eighth-grader at Culbreth Middle School, has been named a semifinalist in the North Carolina National Geographic Geography Bee. Marshall will compete against 99 other students on April 9 at the Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir.

The state winner will receive $100, the National Geographic Collegiate Atlas of the World and a trip to Washington, D.C., for the national finals. The national winner will receive a $25,000 scholarship, a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society and an all-expenses-paid trip to the Galapagos Islands.
