Two students in East Chapel Hill High School’s Academy of Social Justice earned prizes in the 2010 Holocaust Essay Contest sponsored by the Jewish Community Foundation of Durham and Chapel Hill. Herman Bhupal won first prize of $250, while James Huang won second prize of $125. The students will receive their awards on April 11 at the Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance) program at the Judea Reform Congregation in Durham. The son of a local Holocaust survivor will share his father’s story during the event.
