An April 8 barn fire at Foxwood Trail Farm, northwest of Chapel Hill, killed 13 horses before spreading into the nearby woods. A call about the fire was placed at 3:37 a.m. and the brush fire was finally contained at 4 p.m.
Three of the horses belonged to Jennie McLamb, who managed the horse facility at Foxwood and worked as an instructor at the stable. The other 10 belonged to people boarding their horses at the farm.
The State Bureau of Investigations and the Orange County Fire Marshal’s office are currently investigating the cause of the blaze.
