Governor’s School students selected

Twenty-one Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools students have been selected for the 2010 Governor’s School of North Carolina. The Governor’s School is the oldest statewide summer residential program for academically or intellectually gifted high school students in the nation.

The program, open to rising seniors only (with some exceptions made for rising juniors in the performing/visual arts area), is located at Salem College in Winston-Salem and Meredith College in Raleigh.

From Carrboro High School, the students and their subjects are: Taylor Rogalaski, art; Molly Scanga, art; Jordan Thomas, instrumental music; and David Wheaton, math.

From Chapel Hill High School: Helena Archer, English; Jane Chen, Spanish; Meredith Clendaniel, dance; Yue Dong, natural science; Susan Lee, instrumental music; Xinbai Pi, natural science; Allison Press, art; Elizabeth Simpson, choral music; and Ahna Weeks, art.

From East Chapel Hill High School: Eleanor Bellamy, drama; Cedric Duquene, math; Claire Gildard, English; Emma Lowe, choral music; Annie Poole, choral music; Maggie Poole, choral music; Savita S. Sivakumar, choral music; and Li Zhang, instrumental music.
