South Columbia Street lanes closed

Posted on May 13, 2010 by Staff

Two of the three lanes of South Columbia Street between South Road and Cameron Avenue closed on Monday and will remain closed through Aug. 13.

The lanes were closed because of work on the replacement of the steam tunnel serving UNC. The closures are expected to cause traffic congestion and delays and all motorists traveling northbound on South Columbia Street are advised to plan accordingly and use alternate routes when possible. In addition, the block of South Columbia Street between Cameron Avenue and Franklin Street will be resurfaced during the summer months, requiring the closure of two lanes. The work will be performed during evening and overnight hours.
