Students get hands-on technology practice

Posted on June 3, 2010 by Staff

As a culminating activity for end-of-year projects, Elizabeth Straw’s group of 20 first- and second-grade students from McDougle Elementary spent the morning at the Apple Store at The Streets at Southpoint working on Keynote presentations with the Apple Creative Instructional Team.

Over the course of two hours, the students went from novices to accomplished creators of Keynote slideshow presentations. They learned how to change backgrounds and font colors, add media (audio and photos), organize and annotate their slides and create transitions.

The students were also given a chance to play around with GarageBand, a program that lets users record and mix music.

The students presented their projects during a special parent night.
