Posted on June 16, 2010 by Staff

Central Carolina Community College will host an educational tour of longleaf pine stands in Chatham County on June 26 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Learn about the disappearing longleaf pine ecosystem, the important role the tree plays, efforts underway to restore the ecosystem and how you can help. Mark Bost of the N.C. Division of Forest Resources will guide the tour.

The tour is part of CCCC’s series of guided fieldtrips this summer aimed at promoting the college’s new ecotourism program.

The tour is free and open to the public. Register by contacting Central Carolina Community College’s continuing education office at 542-6495, ext. 8044. The tour will start at the Jordan Lake Educational State Forest at 2832 Big Woods Road. For a map of the area, visit ncesf.org/images/jlesf/jlesfdirmap.gif
