Merchant’s group founder resigns

Posted on July 21, 2010July 22, 2010 by Staff

After a series of group email exchanges, downtown gallery owner Jesse Kalisher resigned as president of the Carrboro Merchants Association, a group he founded two years ago to promote Carrboro as a cultural destination.

Kalisher and artist Danny Miller, owner of Mini Cassette Tees and a supporter of the nascent LocalMotive group, disagreed about the efficacy of the Merchant’s Association’s Walk Carrboro campaign and LocalMotive’s buy local efforts in postings on the group’s Google group.

Scott Conary, owner of Open Eye Café, will take over as interim president of the Merchants Association.
