The Chatham County Board of Commissioners announced on Monday that it would continue funding the express bus route connecting Chapel Hill and Pittsboro. The route, which is run by Chapel Hill Transit and subsidized in part by a federal grant, saw a 140 percent increase in ridership over the past eight months. Pittsboro will be responsible for paying $18,000 and Chatham County will pick up the remaining $46,000 tab. The express runs six times a day: three times in the morning and three again in the late evening. Tickets are $3 each way or $65 for a monthly pass. A list of stops on the PX route is available on Chapel Hill Transit’s website at townofchapelhill.org/index.aspx?page=1220
