Chatham County officials announced on Monday that they would hold a series of community meetings to discuss potential landfill sites. The board of county commissioners received a report on Monday from consultant Camp Dresser and McKey detailing potential sites based on the county’s criteria. The group narrowed a list of 564 parcels that fit the initial size requirement to 14 potential areas extending in a wide belt between Siler City and Pittsboro, from Bennett to just north of U.S. 64. The report is available in the commissioners’ agenda at chathamnc.org/index.aspx?recordid=2992&page=45
