Friends of downtown hosts talk on U Square plans

Posted on August 25, 2010 by Staff

This month’s Friends of Downtown discussion features Gordon Merklein, UNC’s executive director of real estate development, and representatives from Cousins Properties, which is working with the university to redevelop University Square.

The UNC Foundation purchased the 12-acre site in 2008.

Merklein will provide an in-depth presentation of the current redevelopment plans with a question-and-answer session to follow.

Meetings of the Friends of the Downtown are open to the public. They are held at the Franklin Hotel on the second floor with coffee and refreshments at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting at 10 a.m. Parking is available in the lot behind the hotel.
