George Fisher pleaded guilty last week to the 1984 rape and murder of 7-year-old Carrie Ann Wilkerson.
Superior Court Judge Carl Fox sentenced the 61-year-old to two consecutive life sentences for rape and murder and an additional 15 years for arson.
Fisher was accused in June of raping and killing the girl and then setting fire to her mobile home at Rocky Brook Mobile Home Park. The charges were based on new DNA evidence, which came to light after the case was reopened in May when police received a tip about a different suspect. When that didn’t pan out, tests were run on evidence using Fisher’s DNA.
He has been serving a life sentence plus 50 years since 1985, when he was found guilty of the kidnapping, sexual assault and murder of 8-year-old Jean Fewel.
