Posted on September 8, 2010 by Staff

Smith Middle School Principal Valerie Reinhardt has been named executive director of school leadership for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools.

As executive director of school leadership, Reinhardt will provide increased support to district principals and improved communication with parents who contact the central office with school-related concerns. The position was created from a reorganization of the district’s instructional services division.

Reinhardt has served as principal of Smith since 2000 and opened the school in 2001. She was named the district’s Principal of the Year in 2009. Before joining the district, Reinhardt served as principal and the director of special education in Pennsylvania’s Montgomery Area School District and as the principal of the Selinsgrove Area Middle School, also in Pennsylvania. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English education from Montclair State College in New Jersey and a master’s degree in education administration and supervision from Lehigh College in Pennsylvania.
