Endorsement Letter: Vote McKee

Posted on October 28, 2010November 3, 2010 by Staff

I am writing today in support of Earl McKee for District 2 commissioner.

I have had the pleasure of working with him when I served as the chief of Caldwell Fire Department.

During that 10-year period, Earl served as treasurer and as president of the board of directors. He was always mindful that the funds that were being used were not the board’s, but the citizens’ of our fire district. He looked at every major expenditure as to whether that was the best use of funds for the citizens. This experience has given him an excellent understanding of the emergency services in the county and the financial responsibilities that go along with that.

His son and stepchildren were educated in our school system, in which he was always involved. His wife worked as an elementary school educator and after her retirement has continued to tutor in our school system. This gives him a wealth of knowledge as to the needs of our students and education system.

When he started considering the position of commissioner, he realized that this would be a great commitment on his behalf. In order to educate himself about the time commitment and the business of the county, he started attending the commissioners’ regular meetings and their work sessions (for over a year). I don’t believe any other candidates have made that commitment.

In short, I would be proud to have Earl McKee to serve as our representative on the Orange County Board of Commissioners.
