Book club honors Margie Ellison

Posted on November 4, 2010 by Staff

The Chatham County Office of Human Relations has joined with the Human Relations Commission and Chatham’s Community Civil Rights Educators to launch the Margie E. Ellison Civil Rights Book Club.

Ellison, who passed away in 2009, chaired the Human Relations Commission and played a key role in its founding.

The first featured books include A Home on the Field by Paul Cuadros, To Right These Wrongs-The North Carolina Fund and the Battle to End Poverty & Inequality in 1960s America by Robert R. Korstad and James Leloudis and the children’s book One Million Men and Me by Kelly Starling Lyons.

McIntyre’s in Fearrington Village will keep the book club’s special selections in stock and offer a 20 percent discount on several titles.

For more information on the book club or to learn more about a free Book Club Membership Card, call 545-8393.
