Two Chapel Hill-Carrboro schools are competing for national awards as part of the Title I Distinguished Schools Recognition Program.
Seawell Elementary School was nominated in the Sustained Student Achievement category, while Ephesus Elementary was nominated for Exceptional Student Performance. Ephesus has also been asked to submit an application to the state Department of Public Instruction for further consideration because of the school’s work toward closing the minority achievement gap. North Carolina may nominate two schools for national recognition.
The National Title I Distinguished School Program honors schools across the country for their innovation in helping Title I populations achieve high educational standards.
