Cycling group honored for philanthropy

Boy Scout Troop 845 Eagle Scout and leader David Hare and the Cycle 20Ten crew received the Youth Philanthropists of the Year award on Nov. 10.
The Cycle 20Ten team was made up of 16 riders, including Boy Scouts and UNC students, and organized by Troop 845 and the Lineberger Cancer Center. The group bicycled 3,470 miles from Aberdeen, Md., to Washington State over 70 days. They raised $25,000 for cancer research through sponsorships and donations.
