More than 1,300 runners showed up Thanksgiving morning to run in the Cardinal Track Club’s annual Gallop & Gorge 8K race.
The race, the third leg of the club’s Le Tour de Carrboro, started on Roberson Street and wound through downtown Carrboro, up to James Street and back down West Main Street. Jack Bolas, 23, shaved 40 seconds off the previous course record with a time of 24:09. Bridget Duffy, 26, was the overall female winner. Due to a malfunction, most runners’ times were unavailable.
The Cardinal Track Club donates its proceeds to local nonprofit organizations, including Arc of Orange County, Table, Orange Cardiovascular Foundation, Optimist Club of Chapel Hill and the Orange County Rape Crisis Center. — Staff Reports
