Chatham Christmas tree recycling

Posted on December 15, 2010 by Staff

Chatham County Waste Management is encouraging residents to recycle their trees by taking advantage of a post-holiday period when real trees will be accepted at no charge.

The county’s Christmas Treecycling Program will grind recycled trees into a mulch product to be sold in the spring. County residents can bring their real trees to the Main Waste Management Facility at no charge from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 28-30, Jan. 3-7 and Jan. 10-14. Those interested in donating their trees must remove all decorations, tinsel, bulbs, wire, bolts, stands and pots. Artificial trees will not be accepted but can be donated to the Swap Shops at Chatham County Collection Centers if they are still in good condition.

For more information, contact Chatham County Waste Management at 542-5516.
