Jaws 2011

A Thousand Words
By Jock Lauterer

It’s not exactly “This-Just-In” breaking news, a la Anderson Cooper 360 — but The Citizen’s intrepid photo-sleuth has scoured Greater Carrboro-Chapel Hill in a tireless search for the community’s biggest and baddest pothole. You do not want to run over and into “JAWS”: an alignment-eating trench four feet long, two feet wide and four inches deep. Spotted at Cole Park Plaza off 15-501 South, this gi-hugeous car-killer has earned its moniker. But is Jaws the Potentate of Potholes? To the first reader who can find and document a larger pothole, the 1K Word guy will award a free one-hour photo lesson.
