Six Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools students have been selected as candidates for the Presidential Scholars Program.
About 3,000 students from across the nation were selected from a pool of more than 3.2 million high school seniors. Candidates are selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities.
The CHCCS candidates are Susan Cavender, East Chapel Hill High School; Emilie Chen, ECHHS; Young-Eun Hyun, ECHHS; Abigail Lin, ECHHS; Mohisin Rasheed, ECHHS; and Louis Vaught, Carrboro High School.
The U.S. Department of Education will announce in May one male and one female winner from each state.
