The Affordable Care Act celebrated its one-year anniversary last Wednesday with a gathering at Piedmont Health Services.
“This is an occasion worth marking,†said Rep. David Price, who calls the act “the most significant reform in history to our nation’s health care system.â€
Nearly 37,000 residents gained health insurance eligibility through the act. The provision allows parents to keep children up to age 26 without job-based coverage on their insurance plans. It is also estimated that 539,000 kids are protected by the provision, banning insurance companies from denying coverage to children because of a pre-existing conditions.
