OWASA will receive drinking water from the City of Durham’s water system Thursday due to work that will take the Jones Ferry Road Water Treatment Plant out of operation for six to eight hours.
Officials do not expect any change in water quality or reliability of service due to the work, which will involve replacing a meter that measures process water flow within the treatment plant.
OWASA estimates that it may receive about 2 million gallons from Durham on Thursday. Through mutual aid agreements, Durham and OWASA provide water to each other when necessary.
