Students sweep Chinese contest

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools students placed in the recent N.C. Chinese Writing Contest sponsored by the Confucius Institute at N.C. State University.

In the competition for native speakers under age 13, four Glenwood Elementary School students earned honors, including: first place, Alyssa Wang; second place, Jenny Huang; and third-place tie, Megan Wang, Robin Huang and Jiayi Wu.

In the competition for native-English speakers, Glenwood winners were: Jordan Ren, first place; Neelan Mahadevan, second place; and Hai-Duong Nguyen and Megan Doherty, tied for third place.

Glenwood received one of four prizes awarded to outstanding organizations in the competition.
