Students from Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools’ Chinese Dual-Language Program won top honors at the N.C. Chinese Speech Contest held May 7 at N.C. State University.
McDougle Middle School eighth-grader Samuel Kennedy received the Outstanding Prize, while McDougle eighth-grader Tom Kennedy won first prize and McDougle seventh-grader Max Mahadevan won second prize. Glenwood Elementary School fourth-graders Kyla Speizer and Maggie Sheely earned third prize. Students receiving honorable mentions are: Morgan Alderman, McDougle Middle; Conrad Weiden, McDougle Middle; Flora Horne, Glenwood; Zoe Roth, Glenwood; and Neela Mahadevan, Glenwood.
Both McDougle and Glenwood were named “Excellent Organizations†in the program.
