Helping seniors cope with heat

Posted on June 8, 2011 by Staff

The Chatham County Council on Aging offers several programs and suggestions to help local senior citizens cope with heat waves this summer.

The Council on Aging invites seniors to enjoy the air conditioning in both the Pittsboro and Siler City senior centers, which are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also, for those without air conditioning, the council participates in a fan donation program funded through a statewide program sponsored by utility companies.

For more information about the senior centers, call 542-4512 for Pittsboro and 742-3975 for Siler City. For more information about the program or if you are aware of a senior citizen in need of a fan, please contact Brett Moraes at 542-4512.
