Several local residents have recently announced their intentions to seek public office. Recent announcements include:
• Michelle Johnson of Carrboro has announced her intention to seek election to the town’s board of aldermen in the fall election;
• Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education vice chair Mia Day Burroughs has said she plans to seek re-election to the board;
• Augustus Cho, chair of the Chapel Hill Transportation Board, has announced his intention to run for town council;
• Chapel Hill High School graduate James Barrett has announced his plans to seek election to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools BOE; and
• Incumbent Hillsborough Mayor Tom Stevens announced his intention to seek a fourth term;
The filing period for candidates for municipal and school board elections runs July 1-15.
