AKG deal sealed; plan would create jobs

Posted on June 22, 2011 by Staff

As first reported by The Citizen, Orange County has entered into a deal with AKG North America to expand the Germany-based firm’s Mebane facility.

The $100,000 county incentive package, combined with incentives from the Town of Mebane and the state, helped the site secure the expansion over a competing bid from a site in South Dakota. The company plans to create 76 jobs and invest $3.3 million during the next three years.

Salaries will vary by job function, but the average annual wage for the new jobs will be $42,710, plus benefits. The county’s average annual wage is $33,852
