The Carrboro Board of Aldermen on June 28 approved an Energy Efficiency Revolving Loan (EERLF) for improvements to Surplus Sid’s.
The improvements will be the first project funded by the Carrboro WISE (Worthwhile Investments Save Energy) Program, which is operated via a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. The WISE EERLF program was designed to achieve a minimum of 15 percent energy savings per project.
Surplus Sid’s, which has been in business in Carrboro for more than 24 years, could see a 35 percent annual energy reduction through the proposed retrofit measures to the building, which was built in 1946.
