Posted on July 27, 2011 by Staff

The trustees of the N.C. Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, have chosen Rep. David Price, who represents Orange County, as the recipient of the 2011 John Tyler Caldwell Award for the Humanities, the council’s most prestigious public humanities honor.

With this award, the council recognizes individuals who have strengthened the educational, cultural and civic life of North Carolinians. Past Caldwell laureates include William Friday, Reynolds Price, Doris Waugh Betts, John Hope Franklin and Fred Chappell.

The award ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Nasher Museum of Art in Durham. It’s free and open to the public.
