School history exhibit opens

Posted on August 4, 2011 by Staff

The Orange County Historical Museum has opened a new exhibit, “Schoolhouses, Students and Slates: 19th Century Education in Hillsborough and Orange County.”
The exhibit includes information on the history of Orange County schools – including the Hillsborough Military Academy, the Nash and Kollock School and the Bingham School – and 19th century diaries, letters and textbooks. In addition, it features photography by local artist Jackie Liggins and a reproduction classroom where visitors can try their hand at 19th-century penmanship.
The exhibit will run through Nov. 1.
