LETTER: Vote Johnson for Aldermen

Posted on September 29, 2011September 28, 2011 by Staff

I am pleased to write in support of Michelle Johnson for Carrboro Board of Aldermen. Michelle will be a wonderful addition to the elected leadership of our town, as she is a thoughtful and skilled teacher, a compassionate listener and an energetic participant.

Michelle has been especially wonderful as one of the lead yoga teachers at the Carrboro Yoga Company. Time and time again, she has proposed, created and delivered special programs, from our popular free Community Flow Yoga series to Yoga to Manage Your Mood and even classes for special populations, which she gives off the books and off the payroll. Michelle’s sense of service and drive for community connection are both admirably strong, and her ability to relate to students from any population is inspiring.

Our students at Carrboro Yoga benefit greatly from Michelle’s teaching. Her classes create space for personal growth and transformation, and beyond that, she inspires our students to connect with each other and with the community at large. Best of all, she takes the time to listen to the students, tracking their needs so that she can best serve them in and out of class.

Michelle combines these teaching and listening skills in her role as a member of our studio staff. She is a collaborative coworker who knows when to act – and when not to. She has a great sense of when to push and when to pull, and this will benefit both the Carrboro Board of Aldermen and the people of Carrboro greatly.

Please join me in voting for Michelle Johnson for the Board of Aldermen on Nov. 8.
