Denise Bowling, assistant superintendent for instructional services for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, announced earlier this month that she will retire on Nov. 30.
Bowling has served as assistant superintendent for instruction services since 2005. She previously served as the assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, from 2002 to 2005. Prior to her work with CHCCS, Bowling held a number of positions with Wake County Schools, where she worked after beginning her career in Chapel Hill-Carrboro as a teacher at Carrboro and Seawell elementary schools.
Bowling was named an honor teacher for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools in 1981 and the outstanding administrator of gifted education for North Carolina in 2001.
