LETTER: Support Lavelle for alderman

Posted on October 13, 2011 by Staff

I have the good fortune to serve with Lydia Lavelle on the Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau Board, while also knowing her as a responsive and caring alderman for my hometown.
Lydia is dedicated to the town she serves – when I wrote to the board years ago requesting sidewalks for Smith Level Road, she was the first to answer and followed up consistently on this issue. Lydia cares about making Carrboro truly walkable and bike friendly for all our residents.
Lydia is knowledgeable about development issues and supports building our commercial tax base, a crucial issue if Carrboro is to continue as a town we love and support. Carrboro cannot continue to offer the services this town provides on the backs of residential taxpayers – we must have commercial development. Her thoughtful consideration of development issues has helped move projects along and we can now look forward to Carrboro’s first hotel.
I am proud and grateful that Lydia Lavelle is running for reelection and will be pleased to vote for her in this election. I encourage you to visit www.LydiaLavelle.com to learn more about our Alderman and cast your vote with me for Lydia.
