LETTER: Vote Foushee for alderman

Posted on October 13, 2011 by Staff

Carrboro has its new downtown. Now it’s time to slow down.
North Greensboro Street is home, residential. Must we replace our neighborhood with more business?
Braxton Foushee says, “No!” He is looking for our votes on Tuesday, Nov. 8 to reinstall him as “A Voice of the Community.”
Forty-two years ago, Braxton Foushee began speaking for those who had no aldermanic voice. He is running, hoping we will speak at the polls, so he can speak for us, who want to live in a peaceful, familiar Carrboro.
Braxton Foushee’s grassroots political activism keeps him in touch with diverse voices that current aldermen/women seem to ignore. Voting for Braxton Foushee gives Carrboro a speaker whose aldermanship will not be muted showmanship. Braxton Foushee represents the best chance for neighborhood survival. Carrboro has its urban renewal. Now it is time for our grass to grow.
Vote for another voice – a voice from the past, Braxton Foushee. He was Carrboro’s first black alderman; now Braxton Foushee wants to be “A Voice of the Community.” He will watchdog local government, making sure the community is not ignored. Braxton Foushee is your voice. Speak up for him on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Bring back the past to lead us into the future. Do not allow Carrboro to become Any Town, USA. Our charm is our neighborhoods. Save North Greensboro Street. Save our natural beauty. Elect someone who will fight to limit business growth. Cast your vote for Braxton Foushee. Our “Voice of the Community” will fight to keep Carrboro neighborly.
