LETTER: Vote Johnson for aldermen

Posted on October 13, 2011 by Staff

I am honored to write this letter in support of my friend and colleague Michelle Johnson who is running for Carrboro Board of Aldermen. I am a Chapel Hill native and have lived in this area my entire life. I have known Michelle for over a decade now and can say with full confidence that she is the leader that Carrboro needs. Michelle and I currently work together at Dismantling Racism Works, a local organization facilitating race-equity training for individuals, organizations and the community. Michelle is an ardent activist and organizer. She is thoughtful in her approach to both people and issues. She communicates clearly to facilitate conversations that consider the needs of those most affected by whatever is being discussed. Michelle is a great leader, takes responsibility and follows through and works well with others, all while retaining great clarity about her accountability to both her values and the larger community. She has the ability to connect with a wide range of constituents and insure that the voices of multiple people and communities are heard. She also knows how to make difficult decisions while bringing creativity and compassion to challenging problems. I encourage all Carrboro voters to support Michelle for Aldermen; you will be very glad you did.
