Chapel Hill launched its annual leaf collection this week. Collection runs through late February.
Residents who wish to have loose leaves and pine straw removed from their property may place these items, free of limbs and other debris, at their curbs. Leaf piles should not block or interfere with driveways, bike lanes, fire hydrants, water meters, mailboxes, storm drains or roadways.
Residents may also place leaves in a 30-gallon brown paper yard waste bag or yard waste roll cart for curbside collection. Yard waste roll carts may be purchased from the Public Works Department for $47 each. If yard waste is put into plastic bags for pick up, it will not be removed because plastic bags do not comply with yard waste disposal requirements at the Orange County Landfill.
