LETTER: Thanks to Meals on Wheels volunteers

Posted on October 27, 2011October 27, 2011 by Staff

As Chapel Hill/Carrboro Meals on Wheels celebrates 35 years of “delivering more than meals” to adults who cannot prepare a meal for themselves, we would like to thank all of our many volunteer drivers, bakers and supporters for their dedicated service. Each weekday, our approximately 100 recipients get a friendly smile along with their hot meal, which is purchased from the K&W Cafeteria by the Meals on Wheels program. Once a week they also receive a newspaper provided by the Durham Herald-Sun, and twice a week Trader Joe’s provides fresh fruit. Desserts are donated by Whole Foods to supplement the many desserts that are baked by our volunteers. These contributions enable us to provide important support for elders and the disabled who choose to live independently.
Our continued service to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area would not be possible without our 140-plus volunteers and the continued support of our donors. During our 35th anniversary year, we salute you all and thank you for all that you do for our community.
