Brian Bower, a candidate for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education, withdrew from the race last week.
Bower, a graduate student at UNC, had been running for a seat on the board to prove he was a resident of North Carolina so he would be eligible to receive in -state tuition.
In a letter announcing his withdrawal from the race, Bower said that he decided to withdraw because he didn’t want to jeopardize the reelection of incumbent Jamezetta Bedford and because he was recently approved for in-state tuition.
