For 10 years I’ve pitched in to try to support the students and teachers of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools system. Looking back through the various schools, SIT, PTA and school board meetings, principals, sports teams, programs, conferences and initiatives, there’s been a constant: Kris Castellano. With our kids at about the same ages and often at the same schools, I saw a lot of Kris. She always found time to step up and volunteer at whatever level to help our schools. She has a gift for bringing people together and for getting people to work together.
I don’t believe Kris operates from some ideological perspective. Rather she focuses on providing teachers the support they need to do their jobs and on speaking up for our kids – especially those who need advocates. From years of experience, Kris knows how the CHCCS system works and many of the people involved, from receptionists to family counselors to program directors to the superintendent. If elected to the CHCCS Board of Education, she will continue to be diligent in getting the best for our kids.
