Hillsborough giving away dirt

Posted on December 15, 2011 by Staff

Hillsborough is looking for sites that can accept multiple loads of dirt, rock and sometimes broken asphalt and concrete. Sites that may need only one or two loads of fill dirt will be considered.
The material comes from various excavations of the Utilities Department and the Streets Division of the Hillsborough Public Works Department.
For more information and scheduling, contact Will Baker at 732-9459.
Tree planting at Maple View
Join Preserve Rural Orange on Saturday at 10 a.m. to plant a maple Tree of Wishes at the Maple View Agricultural Educational Center at 3501 Dairyland Road, Hillsborough.
Local artist Sarah Cornette arranged the Preserve Rural Orange Tree of Wishes after being inspired by Yoko Ono’s Wish Tree/Imagine Peace project. Bob Nutter and Allison Nichols of Maple View Farm have lent support to the project, generously providing a site to plant and care for the tree.
Community members are invited to come out to Maple View to dedicate the Tree of Wishes as an ongoing gathering place for children and adults to envision the future for rural Orange County.
