The Orange County Board of Commissioners approved an agreement last week to increase the county’s funding of the Chapel Hill Public Library.
The county will increase its funding for the library from $250,000 to about $343,000 for the next fiscal year and will continue to increase funding for the library by 3 percent each year until the amount reaches 30 percent of the total library operations budget.
Commissioners hope that this agreement will increase interoperability between the two systems. The Chapel Hill Town Council will vote on the agreement on Jan. 9.
