Two freshmen at Chapel Hill High School placed in the 2012 Orange County Human Relations Commission’s Student Essay Contest. Elijah Moore won first place and will receive $100, while Natalee Atwater won third and will receive $25. Both students will read their essays at the Pauli Murray Human Relations Award Ceremony on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the ballroom of the Central Orange Senior Center in Hillsborough.
This year’s prompt asked students to describe a significant moment or experience in their life that illustrates their understanding of what social justice means.
