The Chatham County Department of Social Services is launching the Campaign for Chatham’s Children to highlight the urgent need for foster families and work to build community support for foster families and children.
According to Jamie Bazemore with DSS placement services, 23 percent of foster care children in Chatham have been placed out of county or with private agencies because of the county’s lack of foster families. The campaign will recruit foster families and raise community support related to becoming a foster parent, including asking community members to join the Chatham DSS Recruiter’s Network or FACES of Chatham, a local nonprofit.
