OWASA water may taste of chlorine

Posted on March 1, 2012February 29, 2012 by Staff

For the month of March, OWASA will use chlorine to disinfect water instead of the chloramines normally used. Because of this temporary change, OWASA customers may notice a chlorine odor and taste to their water during March and early April.

While OWASA typically uses chloramines for disinfection because they improve the taste, odor and quality of drinking water, the state requires the authority to use chlorine for disinfection one month every year.

For more information contact either Rachel Monschein at 537-4227 or rmonschein@owasa.org or Ken Loflin at 537-4232 or kloflin@owasa.org
