The Carrboro Post Office will dedicate the new Barbara Jordan commemorative stamp in its lobby on Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to celebrate its first Customer Appreciation Day.
Jordan was the first black woman elected to the Texas legislature and the first black woman elected from the South to U.S. Congress, where she served three terms.
The event is free and open to the public and will also feature drawings for special edition artwork and information on a new program called Every Door Direct Mail.
