LETTER: Vote Dorosin, Rich for District 1

Posted on May 3, 2012May 2, 2012 by Staff

Orange County voters have a great opportunity to significantly improve the board of commissioners by voting for Mark Dorosin and Penny Rich.

I’ve known Penny since serving with her on the OWASA board and have followed her subsequent public involvement as a Chapel Hill Town Council member. She has a history of active engagement on the issues, communicating well and being very approachable. She would bring a much-needed environmental perspective to the board. She also owns her own business, so she has that important economic experience.

Former Carrboro Alderman Mark Dorosin, a lawyer with the UNC Center for Civil Rights, has worked for affordable housing and access for all to public services and against racial discrimination. He has also been involved in the local business world, both as a small business owner and working at Self Help, a community-development corporation. His commitment to social justice and enriching our local economy will be invaluable. Plus, in a merger of his sense of fun and economic development, he is promoting an Orange County fair.
The BOCC needs an infusion of energy and creativity that these two would bring.
